Objective: Provide students with the opportunity to engage in the actual world of investment through active participation in the management of a significant investment portfolio.

The Student Investment Management Group is a team of students who invests and monitors a student-managed securities fund, with the assistance of faculty advisors. The Group was formed through the inspiration and generosity of . Our Previous faculty advisors consist of the follow professors at NJCU: Dean of School of Business Dr. Bernard McSherrry, Dr. George Li and, Dr. Marilyn Ettinger, and Professor Christopher Versace. Our account is held at Wells Fargo Advisors. with the Scorziello-Perez Financial Group.
The SIM group was created as a result of a $100,000 grant by NJ Representative Frank Guarini.
- Students manage an actual 40 stock portfolio worth over $390,000. Stock selections are made by student stock analysis.
- The SIM group also organizes guest speakers, financial firms site visits, and investment seminars.
- In April 2013 the NJCU SIM group won the Growth Portfolio National championship over 200 other universities at the 13th Annual Student Investment Competition sponsored by the University of Dayton.
- Membership is open to all NJCU students, undergraduate and graduate, who have a beginner level knowledge of business, economics, or financial markets.
Requirements
- All majors with at least beginner knowledge of business, economics or financial markets, at either the undergraduate and graduate levels, are invited to apply to join. Every student-member is expected to attend meetings regularly and to actively participate.
- The importance of teamwork and ÃÛÌÒtv from other members is highly emphasized. Junior members will be grouped with senior members to work as a team.
