Who/What is Jacey?
Jacey is NJCU’s AI-powered student tv chatbot, now enhanced with full integration into Blackboard and available on both the web and the NJCU mobile app. Jacey provides 24/7 real-time, personalized academic tv for students, accessible from any device. Developed by the Department of Information Technology (IT), Jacey combines people power with artificial intelligence to simulate conversations and respond to inquiries, enhance engagement, and elevate the student experience. NJCU’s Jacey chatbot can answer questions about admissions, financial aid, student financials, Blackboard, athletics, technical tv, and so much more. To improve communications, Jacey delivers content in an easy-to-use interactive format provided in English and 99 other languages. The Jacey chatbot provides virtual service and tv so students get the help they need anytime on any device.
To make Jacey smarter and enhance the chatbot’s capabilities, IT collaborated with various departments throughout the campus to validate content and contribute further knowledge. Jacey is learning all the time and will evolve with more and more interactions.
Jacey’s goal is to increase student engagement and help students navigate their NJCU journey efficiently, reducing service loads on staff and freeing them to focus on student success.
Key new features with the latest enhancements:
- Blackboard Integration: Once you log in with your NJCU Single Sign-On (SSO), Jacey can securely provide personalized information from Blackboard, including:
- Show the latest course announcements
- Remind you of assignment deadlines
- Alert you about upcoming quizzes or tests
- List your current courses
- Display your grades by course
How will Jacey help students?
With the ability to conveniently assist students beyond traditional NJCU operating hours and deliver content in their language of choice, Jacey is an innovative and meaningful student resource. Jacey can answer general as well as more personalized responses about class schedules, payments, and grades, such as:
- What majors do you offer?
- What are the Library’s hours?
- How do I make a payment?
- Do I have any announcements today?
- When is my Marketing Project due?
- What are my grades in Business Appl Micro I?
- What courses am I enrolled in this semester?
Answers to the questions presented are immediate and may include links to additional relevant resources. Soon, Jacey will be integrated with NJCU’s student information systems to provide tailored responses to student inquiries concerning class schedule, payment, grades and other personalized information.
