The Master of Science in Financial Technology program is rigorous and practice oriented, designed to provide a strong foundation in the technologies, techniques, and tools employed in one of the fastest-growing areas of business. Students will learn cutting-edge technologies such as blockchain and distributed ledgers, popular AI machine-learning techniques such as Deep Learning, as well as the financial knowledge required to work in the industry. Graduates of the program will be ready to immediately apply their skills to solving financial technology challenges in the real world.
Curriculum: The MS in Financial Technology will require the completion of 30 credits which will consist of seven core courses (21 credits), two elective courses (6 credits) and a capstone project (3 credits). The program may be completed in as little as 16 months.
In addition to being the first of its kind in the state, NJCU's Master of Science in Financial Technology is also one of only a handful in the U.S.
All courses are held on weekday evenings or on Saturdays.
NJCU's School of Business is located in the Exchange Place district of Jersey City. We have access to major financial companies in New Jersey and New York City—which leads to internships and jobs for our students.
This program is also available in Monmouth County at Brookdale Community College's Lincroft Campus.
Data-driven innovations have led to unprecedented growth in the finance industry, with more than 1000 new startups worldwide. Most of these are located in New York City and Jersey City. Traditional financial institutions are seeing the value of these startups, and nearly 80% of global banks have entered into partnerships with them.
This has resulted in tremendous job opportunities for people with the right skills, with demand for professionals often exceeding the number of qualified applicants. Average salaries for financial technology professionals are also higher than many other jobs in the financial sector.
