ÃÛÌÒtv the Special Education Department

Graduates of the Special Education Department become capable teachers who believe in the transformative power of an outstanding education. We prepare distinguished educators who work with students with physical, communicative, cognitive, behavioral and specific learning disabilities. The department carries out the NJCU’s urban mission by teaching students to address the needs of children with disabilities in a multi-ethnic, multicultural, urban environment.

Our experienced faculty members are experts in a range of specialties. They are passionate about building educational opportunities for NJCU students—opportunities that inspire future educators and meet the needs of special needs students and our nation’s schools.

Our comprehensive approach to education the special needs child at all grade levels prepares students for successful careers in a variety of special education settings. We offer undergraduate and graduate programs as well as ÃÛÌÒtv for educators going through the teacher certification process. Flexible class scheduling as well as online classes allow traditional and nontraditional students achieve a balance that works for them.

**The passing score of 151 on Praxis 5354 will not be required for the MAT in Special Education degree until ETS resumes administration of the examination.  In the meantime, candidates for graduation will be exempt from this requirement.
