Dear NJCU Community,
Welcome to the Fall 2022 semester at NJCU. This morning I had the honor and pleasure of interacting with a number of students already on campus. Tomorrow the campus becomes even more vibrant as we welcome back the entire student body and the faculty. I’d like to offer a standing ovation to the student volunteers and the staff members from student affairs, facilities, and public safety who are particularly instrumental in making the start of the fall semester comforting and safe for everyone in our community.
Each new academic year is filled with optimism and enthusiasm – and certainly a little nervousness. These feelings are present in all of us, which means we can look to each other as we share dreams, celebrate accomplishments, and in the inevitable moments when we need a friend or colleague to shepherd us through a challenging time. Embrace the opportunity to offer a smile to those you pass by and to offer help to those who might look in need; we are all in this together.
Whether you are a returning member of our NJCU community or joining us for the first time, we are grateful for each of you to be part of the Gothic Knight family. Each of us — students, faculty, staff and administrators — is intrinsic to the vibrancy of our campus community. You are all valued members of our community and we are grateful you have chosen New Jersey City University to play an important role in your lives. Thank you for embarking with us on a new chapter this academic year.
To our students, I would like to assure you now and always you can be confident in your future at NJCU. The student experience and providing exceptional academic and ÃÛÌÒtv services is priority number 1, 2, and 3. This is our commitment to you. We have a dedicated team of professionals on campus who are devoted to making your NJCU experience a wonderful and meaningful one, and who will always be here to ÃÛÌÒtv you in your academic journey.
I encourage you to fully invest yourself in your college experience, which does not end in the classroom. Join a club or organization, to ÃÛÌÒtv our , and consider volunteering opportunities through The Center for Leadership and Engagement. We encourage you to fully immerse yourself as part of the NJCU community, beginning this month with numerous events offered through the Division of Student Affairs as part of Welcome Back Week and Welcome Month. To learn about other events and important announcements throughout the year, please review the weekly This Week at NJCU newsletter that will arrive in your email each Monday, and follow NJCU on and at @NJCUniversity or on .
Even in times of uncertainty, I am grateful for the ongoing commitment and dedication of our students, faculty, staff, and alumni to this wonderful University. I hope the promise of a new academic year affords each of you the opportunity to explore, to discover, to learn, and to contribute to life on our campus.
Best wishes to our entire NJCU community for a productive and successful semester.
